Our Promise: Quality Clothing You'll Adore
It’s been a few weeks since the Sip & Shop, and I’ve had some time to reflect on my journey with Salt & Lavender Clothing. As a small business owner, my top priority is fostering a sense of community and making meaningful connections. But, of course, the clothes are also at the forefront of my mind. Every time a new piece of clothing arrives to our “shop”, I am constantly asking myself “do these clothes meet the high standards I expect?”
Well, a lot of new arrivals were delivered today for the November Sip & Shop. As I was opening the packages, I was in awe of every single item. The quality of the clothing is what got me! The knit, the fabrics, the way they felt in my hands are all of a much higher standard than what you’d typically find in a brick-and-mortar store. I couldn’t be happier with the collection curated for our November Sip & Shop, and I think our little Salt & Lavender Clothing community will love them just as much as I do.
This got me thinking about why I care so much about the quality of clothing. Before starting this journey, I had feelings of frustration due to not being able to find quality clothing locally. I was often let down by the quality of clothing I found in stores and online. The disappointment of receiving items that didn’t meet my expectations sparked a desire to do better. I wanted to find clothing that truly delivered on quality.
Since beginning this venture, I’ve focused on understanding what constitutes quality clothing. I started by learning about textiles and understanding which fabrics don’t stand the test of time. That’s a topic in itself, but let’s just say I have a love-hate relationship with both natural and synthetic fibers.
I initially thought I could be so precise in my buying that I could select clothing made from fabrics I was 100% confident in. Boy, was I wrong. I had to pivot from this lofty idea. One of my strategies has been to buy just one piece from each new brand I discover, giving me the chance to evaluate their quality firsthand. Diversification has really helped me identify brands that I believe carry higher quality items.
I want to be able to personally assess the quality of each piece of clothing and if it doesn’t meet my standards, then it goes back to the supplier. I simply refuse to sell something that I won’t wear myself or don’t feel good selling to others. A few things I look for are:
Fabric: I seek out materials that are durable, breathable, and comfortable. The weave should be tight and dense, so the fabric can withstand regular wear and tear.
Craftsmanship: I pay close attention to the details, like stitching, well-finished seams, and interior linings where you would expect them.
Fit: Clothing should complement various body shapes while being both comfortable and stylish.
Brand Reputation: I carefully research every single brand I purchase from; looking for established names with a track record of quality and positive reviews.
Price: While price alone isn’t a definitive measure of quality, higher-quality clothing often comes with a higher price tag. I avoid the cheapest options.
Another crucial aspect of maintaining your clothes is how you care for them. I recommend following the care instructions on each garment label. Personally, I wash my clothes in cold water and prefer to hang them to dry. This method significantly reduces wear and keeps my favorite pieces looking new even after many washes.
As I move forward in this journey, I remain committed to sourcing clothing that meets the high standards you deserve. This dedication goes beyond simply selecting items for our shop; it’s about creating an experience where quality and trust are paramount. My promise is to continually seek out exceptional brands and products that not only meet but exceed expectations.
I am dedicated to offering clothing that not only looks great but feels great, ensuring you always find something you adore.
Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support and enthusiasm inspires me every day to bring you the best.
